Mendocino, bathed in the golden glow of a summer sunset, emerges as a dreamy destination for newlyweds seeking a romantic escape. Perched atop rugged cliffs that meet the Pacific Ocean, Mendocino offers a breathtaking backdrop for a honeymoon photo session that encapsulates the essence of love against the canvas of nature.
As the sun dips below the horizon, the cliffs of Mendocino transform into a magical realm where the warm hues of the sky dance with the deep blues of the ocean. Picture yourselves standing hand in hand, the gentle breeze playing with your hair, and the rhythmic sound of waves creating a symphony of romance. It is truly a destination photographer’s dream!
Liz and Rich knew that this would be the perfect place to honeymoon after their wedding, and that they wanted their love to be documented there. The couple wanted photo and video to remember this moment, so they brought myself for photography and Tyler from Dream Space Weddings along for the journey!
We started off dropping our bags off at the SCP Mendocino Coast Lodge (formerly Albion River Inn), where the couple and we were staying. It had gorgeous cliffside views of the water and sunset, which only made it a more romantic backdrop!
Then, we went into town for the honeymoon session. We climbed the cliffs, gazed at the soaring seagulls above and below us, listened to the waves crashing on the black sand shores, and took in the most amazing sunset that only California could offer.
As a destination wedding and elopement photographer, this session will forever be one of my favorites. This was my first time in Mendocino, and I am so lucky to have the memories of driving through the Redwoods to get there, the sounds of the water and the birds, and the adventure of climbing cliffs with an amazing couple, and being able to document their love!
